According to founders of the “Brothers-in-Arms of Ukraine” NGO, every child of a perished Ukrainian warrior has to receive an award in honour of parent’s feat. Today, two thousand one hundred silver memorial signs (a sign has a form of the heart in thorny wreath from which a drop of the blood dripples) have been already presented to the warriors’ families.

The first amulets were presented on August 23, last year in Zhytomyr, in the Day of the State Flag of Ukraine, as well as on September 7, in the Day of Military Intelligence of Ukraine at the National Museum of History of Ukraine in the Second World War in Kyiv. Nowadays, the NGO’s founders presented the sign in nine regions of Ukraine. In total, more than four thousand children should receive silver hearts.

– Our initiative gives an opportunity to show perished parents’ children that their parents are heroes and we honour it, – former commander of the 54th reconnaissance battalion, head of “Brothers-in-Arms” NGO Leonid Klymchuk said. – We want to attach a volunteer to each family in order to monitor what problems are in such families, what issues require attention. Then, the families will not feel themselves forgotten. And society must remember that there is the still war going on in the country, it is not yet over, and we have to achieve victory together so that the number of orphaned children does not increase.

Commemorating the perished warriors is a single project of the NGO, established by the warriors-reconnaissance men. You can learn more about the NGO’s activity, by pressing on a link.
