Countrymen honour the memory of soldiers who gave up their lives for Ukraine

Oleh Borysovych Kulyhin, an officer of separate regiment of Special Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, was killed on September 14, 2014, heroically defending the airport of Donetsk. He was 43 years old.

He was born in Aleksandriia. Before beginning of the war, he worked as a mine foreman at the shaft. He was awarded with an honorable insignia “Miner’s Glory” (3rd Class). On March 11, 2014, Oleh Kulyhin was first who was conscripted into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Before departure to the counterterrorist operation (CTO) area, he served in separate regiment of Special Forces. Oleh Borysovych was a loving husband and a caring father; he left a wife and two sons. In addition, he was always distinguished by adherence to principles and initiative, his active life position and patriotism.

Telling about Captain Kulyhin, deputy regiment’s commander Lieutenant-Colonel Andrii N. said: “Oleh came in our unit during mobilization and at once he established a reputation as a man with an active life position. He voluntarily wrote a report to come to the CTO area where he, in principle, couldn’t go there. We are proud of him as an officer; we respect him as a man. Although he wasn’t a career officer but we sign up him for our ranks forever. I want to say his sons that they can proud of their father”.
