On June 27, 2017, it turns five years since the enemy killed Maksym Shapoval, an intelligence officer, the head of the Special Reserve of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, a participant of the russian-Ukrainian war.
All his professional life is an example of service to his country, people, that he spent in military intelligence.
Since the onset of the russian-Ukrainian war in 2014, he found himself in the thick of things: he took part in hostilities to defend sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, in particular in Donetsk and Luhansk regions. On May 2014, a Special Forces group under his command was first that went into the Donetsk airport. Maksym Shapoval repeatedly planned and conducted reconnaissance raids into the enemy’s deep rear, thanks to which the Ukrainian command was informed about strength and movements of the enemy, deployment of the enemy artillery and other means of destruction. Such reconnaissance actions saved the lives of many Ukrainian soldiers and civilians.
Maksym Shapoval perished as a result of a car explosion in Kyiv, which was qualified as a terrorist act related to his professional activity. He left behind a bright, star-like life and a good memory of his military victory, courage and duty.
