Museum was opened on September 7, 2006, in the day of celebration of the 14th anniversary of Military Intelligence of Ukraine. The same year, according to the result of contest-review, it took first place among the military museums of Ukraine.

At a present day, the museum represents all stages of creation of national intelligence since the time of National Liberation War of Ukrainian people over the period of 1648-1657, led by Bohdan Khmelnytskyi till the modern times. Expositions include unique historical documents and the patterns of technical equipments of reconnaissance.

Just peculiarities of modernity of our state that made it necessary to renew museum. More than year, Ukrainian people have already carried out armed struggle for independence and sovereignty of Ukraine. In fierce fighting in the East of our state, the Ukrainian reconnaissance men of the 21st century proved the dignity and fidelity to the best traditions of national intelligence, having inscribed their names in the tablets of glory and courage of Ukraine forever.
