Russian armed aggression against Ukraine along with the incredible number of negative consequences promoted to solve a whole range of long-standing problems in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In particular, the reorganization of the material support system for servicemen and the steps taken towards changing the post-Soviet institute of “deputy commanders for political affairs”.

According to a recent survey, one of the institutes which Ukrainians find to be the most trustworthy is the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Kyiv Patriarchate.

Fierce combat actions against the Russian occupants evoke not only furious hatred towards the enemy but also strengthen the belief of Ukrainians in the better future of our people and our state. Military chaplains help the defenders of Ukraine in this respect.

Father Viktor is a chaplain in one of the reconnaissance battalions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Back in the days when he was part of Moscow Patriarchate, he held funeral services for those who perished on Maidan and performed requiem services for defenders of Ukraine who fell during combat actions in ATO zone. Some time later, father Viktor transferred to the Kyiv Patriarchate and became a chaplain in a reconnaissance unit. In return, Moscow Patriarchate accused him of schism and forbade him to hold services until “complete repentance”.

“I was an outsider in the “Moscow church”. It would have gotten rid of me sooner or later. I do not claim that I am interested only in the Kyiv Patriarchate, – I’m interested in the truth, Christ and victory over Muscovy. It is the purpose of our life. Our children must speak our native language and be baptized in Ukrainian churches”, – father Viktor says.
