Hero of the project “Champions” reconnaissance man Mykola Poltorak was injured while performing a combat mission. The hero lost his leg but after rehabilitation he did not give up and even set up his own business. Moreover, he dreams about making a comeback to sports – to run and train.

“I am participating in the project “Champions” so that guys like me don’t feel intimidated, but confidently move ahead. The ability to do sports is an important step in the process of returning to a full-fledged peaceful life,” – says Mykola Poltorak.

To implement the hero’s dream, prosthetists chose a special running shin prosthesis with a slight arc which allows to cover short and long distances quickly.

Money for the sports prosthesis for the ATO veteran was raised via a charity run – part of the participants’ fees were specifically directed at the implementation of this initiative.

“Mykola will have a sports prosthesis! I am very happy that we are receiving all of this support, people are responding. It inspires and encourages us, because it is always easier to accomplish more if you are not alone,” – confesses the curator of the initiative Solomiya Vitvitska.

The charity run “Champions” is held during every event of the Run Ukraine Running League 2017. These series include five events that will take place in four Ukrainian cities during the year: Kyiv, Dnipro, Odesa and Lviv.
