A memorial plaque was opened in native school in Sumy region

On facade of the secondary school no. 2 in Bilopillia town, Sumy region, it was placed a memorial plaque in the honour of school graduate – Major Serhii Hordiienko who served as an intelligence chief of the section of the 30th mechanized brigade staff.

During the holding of anti-terrorist operation, Serhii Mykolaioych took part in liberation of the territory of Ukraine from Russin-terrorist formations, in particular, he personally performed artillery intelligence and corrected fire of our artillery from Savur-Mohyla. Due to professional activity of Major Hordiienko, the militants inflicted losses in manpower and materiel. In August, 2014, Serhii Hordiienko died during having broke through the enemy’s encirclement.

According to the Presidential Decree of November 14, 2014, Serhii Mykolaioych Hordiienko was posthumously awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi 3rd Class for personal courage and heroism, displayed while protecting the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, adherence to the oath of allegiance.
