February 20th is the Day of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred in Ukraine. In 2014, thanks to the human valour and self-sacrifice, moral courage and fortitude of patriots the course of our state’s history was changed. This memorable date is marked to honour the feat of the Heavenly Hundred Heroes who laid their lives during the Revolution of Dignity protecting the ideals of democracy, standing up for human rights and freedom as well as the European future of Ukraine.
On the eve of the Day of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred, direct participants of the Revolution of Dignity – the Deputy Director of the National Memorial Complex of the Heavenly Hundred Heroes – Museum of the Revolution of Dignity Antonina Pypko and a member of “maidan self-defence” Roman Oryshchenko visited DIU.
Antonina Kuzmivna spoke about the people who championed Ukrainian freedom on Maidan. Their feat must become part of our contemporary history as an example of sacrifice, courage and self-sacrifice.
Roman Mykhailovych took part in the Revolution from the very first day. His recollections were full of pain for perished comrades and, at the same time, full of belief that these victims were not in vain and Ukraine will become a European powerful state with free people and a democratic, honest leadership.
DIU employees honored the memory of the Heavenly Hundred Heroes with a minute of silence.
