President Signed the Law on the Imposition of Martial Law in Ukraine

The document stipulates that martial law will be introduced I Vinnytsia, Luhansk, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Sumy, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson regions and inland waters of Ukraine of the Azov-Kerch water area.

According to the Decree, martial law is imposed for 30 days, until December 26 given the another act of armed aggression by Russia on November 25, 2018, in the Kerch Strait against the Ukrainian Navy’s ships, other aggressive actions of Russia in the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea, the existing threat of the wide-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian armed forces against the backdrop of the occupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and part of Donetsk and Luhansk regions by Russia.

The relevant Decree was also signed due to the threat to the state sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine in order to create conditions for the performance by the state authorities, military commanders, local self-government bodies, enterprises, institutions and organizations of the powers necessary to repel the armed aggression and ensure national security.
