President of Ukraine: new Ukrainian army will be the mainstay of the country

In the course of working visit to Zhytomyr region, President of Ukraine has conveyed to the servicemen more than 150 combat vehicles

At the military airfield, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has conveyed certificates for the weapons and military equipments that were produced or renewed by the enterprises of the defence-industrial complex of Ukraine.

The list of armament includes: infantry combat vehicles and armored airborne assault vehicles, military off-road vehicles “Spartan”, mortars and small arms, aircrafts MIG-29 and SU-27. The representatives of different units includes reconnaissance units received new fighting vehicles and armaments.

Addressing to the servicemen, the Head of State has congratulated them on New Year and Christmas and expressed hope that the year 2015 will become a year of victory and peace for Ukraine. “New Ukrainian army will be the mainstay and the guarantor of independence and territorial integrity of state,” Petro Poroshenko said.

The Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has stressed that the defenders of Motherland must be equipped with everything necessary. Petro Poroshenko noted a great job of volunteers in the maintenance of the army and the reformation of the Defence Ministry. He believes that the involvement of public activists to the activity of the Defence Ministry of Ukraine will facilitate prompt modernization of it and the army in general.

Also, President of Ukraine has presented state awards to the servicemen.

It should be noted that on the eve of New Year during the staying at the Yavoriv firing range in Lviv region, Petro Poroshenko has conveyed to the servicemen of the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine about 100 fighting vehicles such as: tanks, self-propelled howitzers, command and control vehicles, “Spartan” cars, helicopters, IMR combat engineering vehicles and medical vehicles.
