Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approves the main directions in the long-term development of weapons and military equipment

A corresponding decision was adopted yesterday during the session of the Ukrainian government

According to the government decision, the development of the main directions of weapons and military equipment in the long-term period will promote the determination of the essential components of the future weapon inventory of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other armed formations of the security and defence sector.

It is expected that the development of the armament plan in the long-term perspective will be based on worldwide trends of weapons development: development of up-to-date intelligence means, communications infrastructure and information security facilities; computer-assisted control; robot, self-inclusive and remotely-operated sample of weapons and military equipment.

The main development directions also include the development of high-technology, high-accuracy weapons of destruction as part of target-acquisition and fire-control systems (including –long range systems), modern electronic warfare systems and means, counter means in the information space as well as counter means to technical intelligence and high-precision weapons.

The Government tasked all law enforcement agencies and state concern “Ukroboronprom” to take into account the mentioned directions during the preparation and implementation of doctrines, concepts, strategies, programmes and plans.
