It was opened a memorial plaque dedicated to Hero of Ukraine First Lieutenant Zelenskyi Yevhen
Attendees honoured the memory of Yevhen Zelenskyi with silence minute and the dean of the church in the name of the Borys and Hleb, father Yurii consecrated a memorial plaque and wished all a peaceful sky.
– It is not a simple warrior who was killed in the area of ATO, it is literally a Hero of Ukraine. Thanks to him, his sworn brothers remained alive. We must thank parents of the fallen warriors for the bringing up of such patriots, – underscored military commissar of Pechersko-Holosiivskyi joined military commissariat in Kyiv Lieutenant-Colonel Khomiak Vitalii.
On June 17, 2014, near the town Schastie, Luhansk region, a reconnaissance group under the command of Yevhen Zelenskyi received task to release from captivity his comrades. During the performing of task, the Special Forces men got into an ambush, Yevhen Zelenskyi was mortally wounded. On June 24, 2014, Yevhen died.
On August 23, 2014, according to the Decree of Ukrainian President, for heroism and self-sacrifice displayed in defending of territorial integrity of our state, adherence to the oath of enlistment, Yevhen Zelenskyi was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine.
