Morally and physically strong, he was always able to make bold decisions with lightning speed, which saved hundreds of lives of defenders of Ukraine. He had undisputed authority and respect among his combat sworn brothers. He was a mentor for many Special Forces warriors.
In June 2016, the personnel of the reconnaissance group under the command of Yurii Nazaruk performed a task to detain subversive and reconnaissance groups of terrorists in the area of Vodiane village. In the course of the operation, three terrorists were killed and eight were captured with samples of weapons and personal documents.
Since the first days of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the occupation forces, Major Yurii Nazaruk participated in the liberation of Irpin and Bucha from russian evil, performed combat missions in Zaporizhzhia region, Mykolaiv, Luhansk and Donetsk regions. He was one of the heroic defenders of Mariupol. The hero is credited with several units of enemy equipment burnt down and dozens of occupants killed.
He died during a battle with the russian occupiers.
Major Yurii Nazaruk was awarded the Order “For Courage” third class, the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi third class, the “To Defender of Ukraine” decoration, the medals “Joint Forces Operation”, “For Valour and Loyalty”, the Chief of the General Staff’s honorary badge “For Achievements in Military Service” second class, the insignias of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine “For Military Valour” and “Badge of Honour”, as well as the “Land Forces of Ukraine” badge for personal courage in the fight against the russian horde.
He was posthumously awarded with the “Golden Star” Order of Hero of Ukraine.
