Deportation of the Crimean Tatars is a Crime of Stalin’s Regime

According to resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine no. 792-VIII, dated by 12 November 2015, annually on May 18 is celebrated the Day of Memory of Victims of Genocide of the Crimean Tatars. A head researcher of the Research Center for Humanitarian Problems of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, candidate of historical science Viktor Topalskyi was invited to brief at the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.

Scientist told in detail intelligence officers about historical roots of origin of the Crimean Tatars, prerequisite and reasons of eviction of the Crimean Tatars from the Crimea, as well as how the deportation of the indigenous community of the Crimea became possible and why it consolidates people nowadays.

Drawing historical parallels with 1944, Viktor Leonidovych noted that today, as 75 years ago, the Russian propaganda is trying to annihilate a memory about the Crimean Tatars and violates their rights as ethnic group. The narrative about outstanding representatives of the Crimean Tatars was also informative.

At the end of the event, the employees of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine thanked lecturer for interesting story and expressed their hopes for further meetings.
