On June 18, 2025, in the temporarily occupied city of Berdiansk, Zaporizhzhia region, Mykhailo Pavlovych Hrytsai — a known collaborator, state traitor, and war criminal — was shot.
Originally from the Poltava region, Hrytsai resided in Berdiansk and previously headed the local branch of the political party "Socialist Ukraine." Following russia's occupation of the city in 2022, he voluntarily joined the invading forces. He was appointed to the puppet administration, serving as the acting mayor and deputy overseeing infrastructure, utilities, and energy.
In reality, he was responsible for the plunder of public property in Berdiansk for the benefit of the russian occupiers.
Hrytsai was directly involved in war crimes, including the terrorizing of civilians, the identification and betrayal of pro-Ukrainian residents, and the establishment of torture sites in the occupied city.
He was officially charged in absentia under Article 111, Part 2 of Ukraine's Criminal Code (High Treason) in a case opened on April 1, 2022.
The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine reminds everyone that every war crime committed against the Ukrainian people will be met with just retribution.
