Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant Should Be Demilitarized in Order to Avoid Disaster

The territory of Zaporizhzhia NPP has to be demilitarized: all military units, weapons and military equipment of the russian occupying army should be withdrawn from ZNPP.

Representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Vadym Skibitskyi stressed this within an interview with RBK-Ukraine.

“The territory of Zaporizhzhia NPP is actually mined in some sites. Therefore, the process [of demilitarization] should be clearly planned and conducted in order to prevent any accident, moreover to nuclear disaster at the plant. You see that the kremlin's behavior can be unpredictable, that's why such a threat exists, and we are talking about it," Vadym Skibitskyi said.

According to DIU representative, the demilitarization of the Zaporizhzhia NPP largerly depends on the IAEA and the international community.

“Much depends on the IAEA and its leadership, on the international community, which will still put pressure on the Kremlin to fulfill the basic conditions and secure not just the nuclear facility, but the entire region where the power plant is located," Vadym Skibitskyi explained.
