The solemn ceremony took place in the Mariyinsky Palace in the capital.

Volodymyr Zelenskyi presented the Order “Golden Star” to the Hero of Ukraine Major Yevhen Soloviov, a crew commander of Mi-8 helicopter, who since February 24 has been directly taking part in the protection of Ukraine. At the end of March, he carried out a combat flight and landing of troops and cargo in the blockaded Mariupol city and the evacuation of wounded defenders. On the way back, the helicopter guided by Yevhen Soloviov came under the enemy fire, was hit from a Man Portable Anti-Aircraft Missile System and one engine was taken out of working condition. Maneuvering at extremely low altitude and circling the terrain, the Mi-8 crew made a dangerous flight over enemy territory to the airfield with one working engine. Yevhen Soloviov also has taken part in a special operation, led by the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, on returning Zmiinyi Island under the control of Ukraine.

In order to distinguish a high professionalism, combat merits, courage and bravery of personnel of military units, the Head of State presented battle flags to the 15th separate brigade of artillery intelligence of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the 140th separate reconnaissance battalion of the Command of Marine Infantry of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In addition, Volodymyr Zelenskyi presented the Presidential honorary award “For Courage and Bravery” to the 132nd separate reconnaissance battalion.
