Specialists from the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) have identified an Nvidia Jetson Orin computer module in the new russian S-71 Monochrome air-launched cruise missile. The use of this component may indicate that artificial intelligence technologies are being employed in the missile.
DIU is publishing new data in the “Components in Weaponry” section of the War&Sanctions portal. The latest findings include 35 electronic components identified in samples from enemy weapons.
Other components identified include:
- components of a passive radar seeker that Russia has begun installing on Geran-2 UAVs to detect and engage surface-to-air missile systems and radar stations of Ukraine’s Defence Forces;
- a Chinese Honpho TS130C-01 camera from the Geran-4 jet-powered UAV;
- components of the active homing seeker of the Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missile.
DIU specialists and their colleagues from Ukrainian research institutions continue to examine russian weapons and trace the origins of their electronic components.
This data helps Ukraine and its partners identify critical foreign technologies used in russian weapons and strengthen measures to prevent their supply to the aggressor state.
Two years of experience with the War&Sanctions portal demonstrates that russia still cannot fully replace foreign high-tech components with domestic alternatives.
The discovery of an Nvidia Jetson module in a new russian missile once again demonstrates the need to strengthen sanctions pressure and coordinate the efforts of the civilised world.
