War&Sanctions: DIU expands list of foreign equipment fueling russia’s military-industrial complex
April 8, 2026

Under the "Tools of War" section on the War&Sanctions portal, the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine has released data on 66 units of foreign technological equipment utilized by enterprises within the russian military-industrial complex.

The update includes lathes, milling and grinding machines, CNC machining centers, PCB manufacturing equipment, vibration test systems, and thermal chambers. This involves products from German, Japanese, Taiwanese, Austrian, Swiss, and other manufacturers that effectively sustain the operation of russian defense production.

Specifically, equipment from 15 additional russian defense enterprises has been added to the section. Among them are manufacturers of components for the 9M727 cruise missiles of the "iskander" operational-tactical missile system: the tambov "elektronpribor" plant, the volga electromechanical plant, and "orbita" jsc. To date, these entities remain unsanctioned by any country within the sanctions coalition.

The russian military-industrial complex continues to operate due to its access to foreign technologies, facilitated by supplies through third countries and insufficient end-user oversight.

The DIU emphasizes the urgent need to tighten export controls on sensitive technologies. Proposed effective measures include:

  • Mandatory use of GPS trackers, without which the equipment remains non-functional;
  • On-site inspections by manufacturer representatives at the declared installation sites;
  • Regulation of the second-hand equipment market.

Furthermore, it is critically important to restrict the supply of spare parts, technical fluids, and software to russia, as the already installed equipment cannot function long-term without these components.

Consistent sanctions pressure is the key to degrading the aggressor's capacity to wage war.

Glory to Ukraine!
