WAR & SANCTIONS: DIU Publishes Data on Seven Individuals Involved in the Militarization of Ukrainian Children in Occupied Territories
August 25, 2025

The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, in the "Child Abductors" section of the War & Sanctions portal, has released information on seven individuals and three organizations responsible for the militarization of Ukrainian children in the temporarily occupied territories, as well as assisting in the illegal transfer of custody to russian families.

russia, the aggressor state, continues to carry out cultural genocide as part of its ongoing war against Ukraine. One of its key strategies involves the forced integration of children from occupied Ukrainian territories into russian society, combined with intensive military-patriotic and ideological indoctrination.

By erasing these children's national identity and imposing a distorted reality, russia seeks to normalize its occupation in the eyes of future generations — with the explicit aim of turning these children into a mobilization resource for the kremlin's future wars.

  • Among those exposed in today's publication are:
  • Leadership of the sports clubs "Syla Donbasu" ("Power of Donbas") and "Spartak";
  • Leaders of the "Yunarmiya" ("Youth Army") movement;
  • Representatives of russia's occupation and regional authorities;
  • The head of a project promoting the adoption of Ukrainian children by russian families.

The data on these individuals and organizations was obtained during the May "War & Sanctions" hackathon.

Identifying the organizers and perpetrators of these crimes is the first step toward ensuring justice, accountability, and inevitable consequences for their actions.

Previously, to mark the anniversary of the War & Sanctions portal, the DIU published data on 13 individuals involved in militarizing Ukrainian children in occupied territories and facilitating their forced adoption by russian families.
