Introducing new Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Valeriy Kondratiuk, Petro Poroshenko emphasized that the given appointment would improve the obtaining of operative and trustworthy information for the troops. The President called the intelligence an elite of the Armed Forces. He is hopeful that the intelligence will have a “second wind” due to this appointment.

The Head of State stressed that all efforts of the military intelligence should be aimed at countering Russian aggression. “Informed – it means armed”, President of Ukraine said.

The Head of State noted that Ukraine had managed to restore military intelligence over the past year. Still, further reforms are essential in order to bring the intelligence to a completely new level that will meet current requirements. The President has drawn attention to the great opportunities of interaction in this sphere with USA, UK, Poland and NATO intelligence structures.

According to the President, the key task in the given sphere is to enhance the potential of radioelectronic and space intelligence. The Head of State emphasized that now Ukraine can receive intelligence information in a real time.
