Ihor Bondarenko served as a reconnaissance man in the 14th separate mechanized brigade. After being wounded on the frontline the warrior was in critical health condition. His wife Valentyna was next to him the whole time. “I prayed to God to keep Ihor alive, – she recalls. – After the emergency room we went through months of rehabilitation. Ihor learnt to speak and to walk anew, little by little his childhood memories started coming back”. The doctors managed to do the impossible – following severe complications a doomed man stood on his own two feet again.

Recently, the Bondarenko’s family received their own apartment in Kanev. Approximately 750 thousand hryvnias was allocated from the state budget to Ihor’s family for the purchase of the flat. This sum was sufficient to buy a flat that was had furniture, household appliances and was fully ready to accommodate the family.

Ihor Bondarenko and his wife Valentyna will celebrate the New Year and Christmas in their own flat.
