On January 15, 2025, on behalf of the President of Ukraine, the team of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War returned 25 Ukrainian citizens from russian captivity as part of the repatriation process.

Among them are 24 seriously ill and heavily wounded Ukrainian defenders of the state, as well as one civilian.

“This is a significant event. Ukraine has achieved a separate new format for the return of seriously ill and severely wounded Ukrainian defenders and civilians. There is hope that the movement in this direction will be faster and more effective,” said Andrii Yusov, a representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, in a commentary to the United News marathon.

He added that specialists continue to provide assistance to those released from russian captivity - they are waiting for treatment and rehabilitation.
