A solemn opening ceremony of the taekwondo course – first in the Armed Forces of Ukraine – was held with the participation of Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Korea Mr. Lee Yang-goo, Defence Attaché of the Republic of Korea Lieutenant Colonel Khwang Su Chol and representatives of Embassy of the Republic of Korea at Zhytomyr Military Institute named after Serhii Koroliov.
Classes on martial arts at the educational institution will teach a master of world-renowned of single training Taekwondo Center “Kukkiwon” Mr. Lee Je Su on the invitation of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
“We are convinced that a current Ukrainian officer should be harmoniously educated and, first of all, has a determined character, leadership skills, physical well-being. In addition, this kind of martial art will enhance worldview of our graduates and strengthen friendly relations between Ukraine and the Republic of Korea,” the Chief of the Military Institute General-Major Oleksandr Levchenko noted in his speech.
During the festivities, a team of cadets on Taekwondo performed before attendees, as well as special uniforms and protective gears for classes were presented to team’s members.
