Kyrylo Budanov, “We have no other option but to return everything occupied”
June 23, 2024

Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov, Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, has given an interview for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

In a conversation with American journalist and columnist Trudy Rubin, the head of the intelligence service reminded that Ukraine’s strategic goal remains the complete de-occupation of the lands enslaved by russia.

“We have no option but to get back what was occupied. Otherwise, the state of war will go on forever,” Kyrylo Budanov explained.

According to him, the answer to russia’s superiority in manpower is battlefield technology. This includes various types of unmanned systems and electronic warfare.

“Technologies will have quite a significant meaning in this war,” DIU chief said.

He also stressed that the Crimean Peninsula – captured by moscow and turned into a huge military base – should be cut off from russian resupply.

“So we need to do everything to implement it,” Kyrylo Budanov said, adding that the ATACMS missiles provided by the United States could play an important role in this process.
