The unveiling ceremony was attended by the Hero's wife and daughter, his comrades-in-arms, representatives of authority and servicemen of the Kyiv garrison.

At the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the section commander of the reconnaissance troop of the 30th separate mechanized brigade named after Prince Constantine of Ostroh Leonid Dobrianskyi as a former military serviceman was among the first to defend the Homeland, understanding that his experience is needed as never before. After demobilization in 2015, he could not stay at home and continued to serve under contract.

According to the public affairs service of the brigade, in the night-time of June 13, 2020, near Troitskyi, Luhansk region, the positions of the unit, where Praporshyk Dobryanskyi had served, were attacked and fired from mortars prohibited by the agreements. During the battle, Leonid was killed because of a mine explosion. He did not see out his 46th birthday for a month and a half.
