The first russian nuclear warheads were delivered to the territory of belarus just a few days ago.

This was stated by the Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov in an interview with 1+1.

According to him, the risk of using nuclear weapons from belarusian territory is zero.

“This is a major geopolitical game. What sense does it make to deploy nuclear weapons in belarus? When [the russians] claim it’s in response to NATO, what sense does it make to put nuclear weapons on the front lines? They will either be destroyed or captured,” Kyrylo Budanov explained.

The head of the military intelligence also described the results of large-scale russian exercises with nuclear simulators conducted in belarus.

“I have read the original documents regarding the results of the exercises. The documents are quite unfavorable for belarus: the russian 12th Chief Directorate, responsible for these weapons, stated that as a result of the exercises with nuclear simulators for the Iskander system, which is present in belarus in a small quantity, they were deemed completely unprepared to operate such weaponry,” the DIU Chief said.

At the same time, Belarusians demonstrated a high level of proficiency with the Tochka-U type of equipment with a range of up to 120 kilometers.

“Nuclear warheads for the Tochka-U, Soviet ones, were being decommissioned. So, now rosatom is removing them from decommissioning, taking them from rosatom storage facilities, not military arsenals, extending their shelf life for exactly one year by simply writing that they are still usable, and then they send them to belarus. In other words, they are also addressing the issue of disposal,” Kyrylo Budanov said.

This factor could also be used by russia for manipulation and blackmail in belarus.

“In a year, the russians will say: the shelf life has expired, do something for us, or we take [the warheads] back,” the Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine noted.

In addition to warheads for the Tochka-U system, the russians have also deployed nuclear bombs for Su-24M aircraft on belarusian territory. All of this is evidence of the kremlin’s attempts to play in the global political game.

“This is exclusively a means to raise the stakes in a major geopolitical game: russia believes it is still playing, but it is actually being played. These are its last efforts,” Kyrylo Budanov emphasized.

Commenting on the so-called red lines that the aggressor state frequently mentions, particularly regarding the temporarily occupied Crimea, the head of Ukraine's military intelligence reminded of international law and the inevitability of the liberation of all Ukrainian territories.

“Crimea will be returned. No russia can be there. Crimea is ours, and it belongs to no one else,” Kyrylo Budanov emphasized.
