In Dnipro, a Reconnaissance Man’s Son, Who Saved Lives of Five Children, Is Awarded

Recently, Oleksandr Harkusha, who saved lives of five children at age from 6 to 12 years old, has been awarded at Dnipro Regional State Administration.

Oleksandr is 16 years old. In summer at Pashena Balka village, he saved lives for five children who found grenade and fired it. According to a guy, he wanted to take it at hand and throw it as far away as possible, but it exploded in his hand.

As a result of explosion, Oleksandr’s fingers of right hand were torn off. He says, his father and a volunteer gave him first medical aid. He was in resuscitation during 15 days, and then he was undergoing treatment about three months. Volunteers of NGO “Disabled persons and ATO warriors” presented Oleksandr medal “For loyalty to national idea” for sacrificing himself.

The boy wants to enter a higher educational institution in Odesa and in the future to become a reconnaissance man as his farther.
