Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov gave an exclusive interview for CNN TV channel: he described the current situation in the russian-Ukrainian war and expressed hope for a favourable verdict on important military aid from the American people, which is currently being debated in the US Congress.

“We still expect a positive decision,” said Kyrylo Budanov.

According to him, artillery systems and ammunition remain the most important needs of the Ukrainian Security and Defence Forces: their quantity is one of the key factors in the war against terrorist russia.

“It is precisely in unmanned systems [with the russians] that we are more or less equal,” said Kyrylo Budanov, speaking about the trend towards the increasing use of different types of UAVs at the frontline.

The head of military intelligence also suggested the idea of A-10 attack aircraft, which could significantly strengthen Ukraine’s frontline capabilities.

Although there are occasional discussions in the US about their retirement and replacement with newer aircraft, the A-10 attack aircraft have a reputation for effectiveness against armoured vehicles, gained in particular during the Gulf War.

“They can really help inflict a military defeat on russia,” the Lieutenant General said.

Kyrylo Budanov said that there are more than half a million russian invaders in the occupied territories of Ukraine.

However, in the short term, the enemy’s current capabilities are unlikely to allow for advancement on the front line.

The Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine also surmised that the number of attacks on russian infrastructure is likely to increase.

“Hypothetically, there is a plan according to which all this happens. I think that this plan could include all the major critical and military infrastructure facilities of the russian federation,” said Kyrylo Budanov.

The russian civilian population is finally seeing the real picture of the war.

“They see burning oil depots, destroyed buildings in factories and plants, etc. This is all beneficial,” he added.

In conclusion, the head of the intelligence service stressed that the war with russia will only end one way.

“The establishment justice this is how it will end. With the return of what was lost,” said Kyrylo Budanov.
