On December 19, 2023, a delegation from the National Scout Organization “Plast” handed over the Holy Bethlehem Light to the Ukrainian military intelligence men.

Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov, Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, received the symbolic flame from the young patriots. The head of the military intelligence expressed gratitude to the scouts for their indifference, motivation and good deeds to support the Ukrainian army.

“The light of the flame warms our hearts, shows us the way to a better future, and your support of Plast gives us strength, inspiration and confidence,” said Kyrylo Budanov.

The scouts reminded that the flame lighted at the birthplace of Jesus Christ brings goodness, love and warmth. Thus, on the eve of the Christmas holiday in the amids of war the scouts decided to share them with representatives of the military intelligence of Ukraine.

“Now, in times of war, the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine is an important institution that does a lot for our victory. It is important for us to share this warmth with the DIU representatives to make them feel understood and remembered. Having brought this flame, we want to personally thank them for their conscientious and hard work,” said scout female Hafiya Nahirniak.

During the ceremony, the chaplain of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, Father Kostiantyn, stressed in his speech that the Peace Light of Bethlehem is a symbol of hope for peace and victory over evil.

The flame will be transported to all military intelligence units that continue defending Ukraine against russian invaders.

“We will distribute this flame to all the units that are included in the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, and each unit will have this flame burning to remind everyone of the approaching Christmas holiday,” Father Kostiantyn noted.
