Today, one of the founders of a Special Forces unit of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Yaroslav Horoshko would have turned 60 years old

Strong in Body and SpiritThe courageous warrior had to walk down a path drenched with blood and sweat, but he passed all the trials destiny had in store for him with dignity. Yaroslav Horoshko was awarded with the order of the Red Star twice and was bestowed the title of “Hero of the Soviet Union” for performing combat tasks in Afghanistan. He was used to being the best; however he did not want to stop at what had been accomplished. After graduation from the military academy, the officer was invited to serve in the Russian army and was promised a glittering military career. “I am a Ukrainian,” – he told top-level officials from Moscow and came back to serve in Iziaslav as the commander of a Special Forces detachment.

Yaroslav Horoshko trained DIU Special Forces units since 1993. A strong-willed, rigorous but fair commander, he shaped the new elite of the Ukrainian troops as his perennial combat experience directed him. To stay alive. To win. To … He lived, served and perished – as OFFICER, WARRIOR and PATRIOT.
