Justice Served: russian OMON Lieutenant Colonel Involved in War Crimes in Kyiv Region Eliminated
October 29, 2025

On October 25, 2025, in russia's kemerovo region, an explosion destroyed a car driven by veniamin mazherin, a russian OMON officer complicit in war crimes committed in Ukraine.

Lieutenant Colonel veniamin vladimirovich mazherin, born in 1980, served in the "Obereg" special unit of the russian National Guard (“Rosgvardiya”) based in Kemerovo.

"Obereg" is one of many Rosgvardiya units directly involved in war crimes and acts of genocide against the Ukrainian people in the Kyiv region during russia's full-scale invasion in February–March 2022.

Based on collected evidence and eyewitness testimonies, Ukraine's Office of the Prosecutor General opened a criminal investigation against members of this unit for violating the laws and customs of war.

Defence Intelligence of Ukraine identified the perpetrators from "Obereg" by name as early as April 2022 and subsequently developed measures to ensure that every individual on the list receives just retribution.

The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine reaffirms: every war crime committed against the Ukrainian people will be met with justice.
