A sniper of the DIU's Active Action Unit with the call sign Lector eliminated a russian occupant with a .338LM caliber bullet at a distance of 2069 meters.

The confirmed record for this caliber belongs to a British sniper, Corporal Craig Harrison of the Royal Guards "Blues and Royals" Regiment. In November 2009, during the war in Afghanistan, he successfully hit two Taliban fighters at a distance of 2,475 meters and damaged their machine gun.

Harrison fired from a prone position much higher than his targets. According to the corporal, the calm weather and clear visibility also contributed to his accuracy. However, the British sniper had to make nine sighting shots before he hit the target.

The Lector sniper was practically on the same level of terrain as the russian occupier, aiming in the harsh Ukrainian December, firing while standing in a trench at the enemy, who was moving down the landing, and hit him with the first shot.

"In today's warfare, you can't get out of the trench, lie down on a hill, etc. Enemy drones do not allow you to shoot from classic positions," the scout explained.

Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov, the Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, noted the record shot of Lector.

"A masterful job that will go down in the history of our fight for freedom. Hitting a moving target at such a distance is a huge achievement; it is a testament to the high professionalism and concentration that Ukrainian military intelligence snipers are known for. We continue to fight to destroy even more russian occupants!" said Kyrylo Budanov.

In civilian life, Lector worked as a gamekeeper. He joined the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine together with his son. At first, he served in the intelligence of one of the Tank Brigades, and since February 2023, he has been fighting in the ranks of the DIU's Active Action Unit.

He has completed several specialized military exercises, including the DIU sniper training and the "Pure Wrath" course from the "Come Back Alive" army competent assistance fund.

Lecter has already destroyed more than three dozen targets during the full-scale invasion.

According to the sniper, he selects a different type of rifle for each task.

His historic hit at 2069 meters was made with a Sako M10.

"But if I had to choose one rifle and cartridge, I would take the Sadex Kraken and the .338LM caliber," said Lector.
