Andrii Yusov, a representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, answered the question in an interview with Ukrainian Pravda about why the forecast made earlier by Kyrylo Budanov, the chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, of the fact that the Armed Forces of Ukraine would enter the occupied Crimea in spring 2023, did not come true.
“We are talking about scenarios. This is not a bet in a bookmaker’s office and not a calendar that can be torn off the wall. Adjustments are made. But the general situation and general assessment remains unchanged: Ukraine will definitely return Crimea. And in this situation, Budanov’s words will definitely be prophetic," explained Andrii Yusov, having reminded that now a stage of active actions of the Ukrainian army regarding the liberation of the temporarily occupied territories, including Crimea, is undergoing.
“Considering an active phase of the actions of the Ukrainian Security and Defence Forces has been currently undergoing, I think it is wrong to discuss specific dates. But I think it will be warm,” the DIU representative suggested.
According to Andrii Yusov, the preparatory actions for the de-occupation of the Ukrainian peninsula, in particular, explosions and various ‘smoke attacks’ that disable objects, which are strategic ones for the russian military grouping, as well as "cyber bavovna", when the addresses of the official representatives of the military-political leadership of Ukraine, encourage the residents of Crimea, but oppress the occupiers.
“Regarding the representatives of the occupation administration, for them this is yet another evidence that they are temporary guests there. Many of them have already packed their bags and sent their families to relatively safe places. The enlisted personnel of the occupants remain. Nobody cares about them. And even if they have panicked moods (but they have), no one pays attention to it,” the DIU representative said.
