“Mournful angel”
On June 6, 2014, militants of the Russian terrorist grouping shot down Ukrainian reconnaissance aircraft in the sky over Sloviansk. The aircraft’s crew under the command of Kostiantyn Mohylko was able to take aside a flaming aircraft from town’s residential district at the expense of own life.
According to the Decree of the Ukrainian President, the crew’s commander Kostiantyn Mohylko was posthumously awarded the title of the Hero of Ukraine.
Thankful local inhabitants have not forgotten a feat of the heroes-aircraft pilots and honored it having installed a memorial.
A memorial received name “Mournful angel” and was installed not far from the village Pryshyb Sloviansk rayon Donetsk oblast.
Locals, relatives of dead aircraft pilots as well as their combat sworn brothers were attended at the opening ceremony of monument.
