Assault and cleansing using “salami tactics”: unknown details of the DIU mission in the north of Kharkiv regionChannel 24 journalists interviewed participants of the combat operation to liberate a forest area near Liptsi in the north of the Kharkiv region and wrote an article about the mission's significance, which lasted from May to October 2024.

The DIU's Kraken, Artan, International Legion, and Legion "Russian Freedom" active action units, together with the NGU and Armed Forces of Ukraine, drove the enemy out of their positions, forcing the russians to abandon the idea of breaking through to Kharkiv and shelling the city with cannon artillery.

The active phase of the operation was carried out using the “salami tactic.” The advanced units of “Artan” and “Kraken” captured and secured the first russian positions. After that, fighters from the International Legion and the LSR brought their comrades from the "Khartia" Brigade to these positions, and the DIU's striking fists moved forward again.

“The assaults and clearing of some areas lasted an average of three to four days. Then, it took about three days to pull up forces, organize logistics, and determine the next points we would attack. We reconnoitered the situation, understood how many forces and means we needed to knock out the enemy, and then moved forward again for several days,” said the DIU Special Forces officer.
