Scout Vitalii Volkotrub was posthumously awarded the high insignia of honour of Ukrainian Youth Association

At the end of September, 2015, the solemn event was taken place on the occasion of 90th anniversary of Ukrainian Youth Association in Lviv. About three hundreds of Association’s representatives from Ukraine, Canada, USA, Germany, Belgium, Australia and Great Britain took part in this event. On the occasion of the jubilee, Ukrainian Youth Association received the greetings from the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, the prime minister of Ukraine Arsenii Yatseniuk, the representatives of religious and public institutions and organizations.

During the solemn events, a deserving attention was devoted the honoring of memory of the fallen warriors – alumni of Ukrainian Youth Association who were killed during the holding of the anti-terrorist operation. Hereby, the high association’s decoration – “Iron Cross of Merit” was presented to the families of two fallen defenders of Motherland, among are the scout of the 3rd separate regiment of Special Forces Vitalii Volkotrub.

Sergeant Vitalii Yuriiovych Volkotrub was born on June 5, 1986, in Bobrynets town, Kirovohrad region. On August 29, 2014, he was killed during the performing of combat task in ATO area.

It should be noted that for all time of existence of Ukrainian Youth Association, the highest award was presented only one time – to fallen officer of US police, Ukrainian man Ivan Skala who perished on September 11, 2001, during rescuing the people from skyscraper’s obstruction destroyed by the terrorists.
