Russia Uses the Crimea as Outpost for Waging War in Syria

In the interview for “Obozrevatel” internet publication, conducted by Hanna Molchanova, representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Vadym Skibitskyi told on what the conclusions of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine are based.

According to Vadym Skibitskyi, the Russian servicemen strength in the Crimea increased in 2.5 times – from 10-12 thousand (before the beginning the Russia’s aggression) to 32 500.

There was augmented not only the strength of personnel, but also stepped up weapons, namely: warships, aviation component that included at that time only aircrafts of marine aviation, as well as Su-24. Nowadays, these are almost the whole range of bomber and fighter aviation.

Moreover, the Russian air defence S-400 was not earlier in the Crimea. They are deployed together with anti-ship missile systems “Bal” and “Bastion”.

Mentioned above capability of the RF Armed Forces will continue building up. Today, the Russian Federation uses Crimea as outpost for force projection not only in the Black Sea region but also as main base for employment of Russia’s troops in Syria.
