Russia has serious problems with commander at the platoon or company level. The frontline units of the occupying forces are missing approximately 40 percent of their junior commanders.
This was stated by Andrii Cherniak, a representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, in an comment for RBK-Ukraine.
According to the representative of Ukraine’s military intelligence, the shortage is observed in enemy units fighting in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
“The russian federation will continue offensive actions because it has not achieved its main goal – the full occupation of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. And it is in the units that located there, we observe that the occupiers have serious problems with commanders at the platoon or company level. Those who are being on the front line do not want to fight, to go on the offensive. Many of them want to mutilate themselves to return to russia’s territory and stop fighting. The majority of them do not plan to extend the contract, but no one asks them,” said Andrii Cherniak.
“That is why, the mobilized russians are often sent on assault operations without command and proper cohesion between groups. They may have some minor tactical successes, but they die by the hundreds, and new ‘cannon fodder’ is sent in their place,” the representative of military intelligence of Ukraine explained.
According to him, there are also problems with leadership in the russian army at the highest levels.
“We have already seen and continue to see the frequent replacement of generals and commanders of various levels who have been unable to complete their tasks. Perhaps, this is their last chance to correct the situation and at least partially achieve their goals. Therefore, according to our estimates, staffing problems with the russia’s commanding officers will only increase day after day,” Andrii Cherniak concluded.
