DIU’s specialists have been using the ICEYE spacecraft to detect enemy targets and protect the state for almost two years.

The new level of quality and efficiency of obtaining of intelligence data was made possible by the initiative of the Serhii Prytula Charitable Foundation and blogger Ihor Lachenkov, as well as donations from Ukrainians to the ‘people’s bayraktar’, which was used to purchase the satellite at the request of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.

It is very important that intelligence from earth’s orbit allows to obtain data both in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and in other places on the planet where the terrorist russia’s military forces and assets are located.

During the period of using the ‘people’s satellite’ and accessing to the ICEYE satellite constellation, specialists took a total of 4,173 images of enemy targets, including:

• 370 air bases;
• 238 positions of air defence systems and Signals Intelligence;
• 153 oil or fuel depots;
• 147 missile, aerial weapons and ammunition storage points;
• 17 naval bases.

ICEYE's lens also captures permanent deployment points of enemy forces, its training grounds, military camps, and mobilisation deployment centres. This allows us to track the dynamics of russia’s movements with its personnel and reveal its military intentions in order to disrupt them.

The advantage of the ICEYE satellite lies in its ability to clearly detect clusters of even meticulously camouflaged mechanised russian units with its military equipment.

What do you think happens to them afterwards?

Furthermore, the ‘people's satellite’ can accurately identify the type and model of detected combat aircraft, ships, russian air defence systems and also record the level of damage to affected targets.

Approximately 38% of the entire data set obtained through ICEYE satellite was used to directly prepare strikes on the enemy – this is billions of dollars in losses for russia, and the price of its aggression will continue to increase.
