On January 31, the negotiation between Minister of Defence of Ukraine Oleksii Reznikov and Minister of National Defence of Canada Anita Anand took place. During the meeting the sides discussed the issue of security situation in the temporarily occupied territories and around the Ukraine’s borders, Ukraine and NATO cooperation in bilateral format.

Special attention was paid to the aggravation of the security situation due to the joint Russian-Belorussian military exercises near the Ukraine’s borders, the use of the hybrid war methods by the Russian military-political command against Ukraine and the NATO member states.

The sides stressed that Ukraine and Canada are strategic partners in the defence and security area, and that they have common view on the way to deter the present threats and challenges and are fully devoted to maintain peace and security in the Euro-Atlantic region and to protection of the common freedoms and values.
