The Law "On Intelligence" Signed by the President of Ukraine Is Among of Key Ones for Security and Defence Sector of the State

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi signed the Law of Ukraine "On Intelligence". This is one of the key documents for the security and defence sector, given the significant changes in the external security environment, in particular, the ongoing Russian aggression and the emergence of new external threats to our country," Oleksii Danilov noted.

"The heroic round-the-clock work of intelligence officers, who obtain information vital for making strategic decisions in the sphere of national security and defence, is supported at the legislative level," he said.

The NSDC Secretary reminded that this Law establishes legal grounds for strengthening the state's intelligence capabilities, clearly defines the list of intelligence agencies, improves the legal and organizational framework of the intelligence community, increases their interaction, and provides social and legal protection for employees of intelligence agencies, it also expands the norms of democratic civilian control over the activities of the intelligence community have. It is especially important that the Law "On Intelligence" is one of the strategic documents required for the implementation of the constitutional provisions - Ukraine's accession to NATO.

"I am convinced that we will create an effective and modern intelligence system that will meet the nature and scale of current threats to Ukraine's national security, will allow timely detection, prevention and neutralization of such threats, and will provide the state leadership with quality intelligence to make strategic decisions in the sphere of national security of Ukraine," Oleksii Danilov said.
