An Agreement, Which Defines a New Stage of Cooperation Between Ukraine and the United States in the Field of Defence and Security, Was Signed
During the working visit of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the United States, a number of agreements on strategic defence partnership, scientific and technical cooperation were signed.
In particular, in the presence of the President, the Strategic Defence Framework was signed between the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and the United States Department of Defence, which creates conditions for a significant strengthening of cooperation between the two countries in the area of defence, provides international legal support from the US for the sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine, ensures joint resistance to Russian aggression and facilitates Ukraine’s membership in NATO.
The Framework Agreement on the Strategic Foundations of the Defence Partnership reaffirms key principles and sets ambitious goals for bilateral defence relations between Ukraine and the United States, inter alia by reaffirming the United States’ unwavering support for our sovereignty and territorial integrity and condemning Russia’s occupation of Crimea and aggression in the eastern Ukraine; determining further steps of cooperation between the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and the US Department of Defence to increase the military potential and readiness of our state to preserve territorial integrity, progress towards interoperability with NATO and promote regional security, etc.
In order to continue to achieve these goals until December 2026, bilateral defence relations will focus on closer partnership of defence intelligence communities of both countries.
