Among the russian occupiers eliminated in the Donetsk region, Ukrainian intelligence has identified the body of John Patrick, a citizen of the Republic of the Philippines who fought on the side of the aggressor state.
The foreign national was serving in the 9th Assault Company of the 3rd Battalion, 283rd Regiment, 144th Motor Rifle Division, 20th Combined Arms Army, of the russian Armed Forces.
Like many other foreign mercenaries, Patrick was killed during a so-called “meat assault” near the village of Novoselivka, Kramatorsk district, Donetsk region.
At the time of death, the occupier carried only weapons, ammunition, and a small piece of paper containing the unit number, a phone number, and the name of his commander. He did not speak russian.
According to data retrieved from his electronic devices, the Filipino national underwent only one week of basic training before being immediately sent to the front line. After sustaining a wound, he was left to die slowly in a forest belt — no evacuation was planned or provided.
The aggressor state, russia, continues to scale its criminal practice of recruiting foreign nationals and labor migrants into its armed forces through deception or coercion. Foreigners are promised rear-area service or threatened with legal consequences if they refuse.
The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine warns foreign citizens against traveling to the russian federation or accepting any form of employment on its territory, especially illegal work. A trip to russia carries a real risk of being forcibly deployed into an assault unit without proper training and without any chance of survival.
