At the days of anniversary of the events on Maidan, the Director of the National Museum of the Revolution of Dignity Ihor Poshyvailo delivered the lecture for the workforce of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine: “Evolution of attitude to the Revolution of Dignity: five years afterwards”.
He told about the history of creation of the Museum, the results of its work over recent years, the key directions of activity, the vision of the way of externalization of the Maidan and data on social research regarding the attitude of the Ukrainians to the Revolution in 5 years after its completion.
The lecture arose a number of informative questions which were discussed by Ihor Poshyvailo with DIU employees during half an hour. After that, it was organized an excursion to the DIU Museum for the guests, where the exposition dedicated to the Hero of Ukraine Major General Maksym Shapoval takes an important place.
It should be reminded that Colonel Maksym Shapoval was appointed at the position of the Chief of the Special Reserve of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine before the war. Since the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war Maksym Shapoval performed tasks in the area of the antiterrorist operation, took part in the fiercest battles of 2014–2015, in particular, in battles for strategically important hill – Savur-Mohyla and Donetsk airport, in reconnaissance raids into the deep rear area of the enemy. He personally headed reconnaissance groups and made a considerable contribution to the process of documenting evidence regarding the presence of the armed forces of the Russian Federation in the territory of Ukraine.
Colonel Maksym Shapoval perished on June 27, 2017, as a result of blasting of car not far from his house in Kyiv. According to a Decree of the President of Ukraine dated by 30 June 2017, Colonel Maksym Shapoval was posthumously promoted to the rank of Major General. On September 7, 2017, the President of Ukraine awarded Major General Maksym Shapoval with the “Golden Star” Order of Hero of Ukraine.
The lectures for the servicemen are provided within the framework of Institute project “Military and historical lectures”, launched in 2018, in cooperation with the Main Directorate for Moral and Psychological Support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
