A certain decline of intensity of russian missile attacks on the territory of Ukraine in June as compared with May is related to the economy of weapons and a change in the tactics of the aggressor: the enemy combines the employment of different types of weapons, uses false targets to exhaust Ukrainian air defence and tries to maintain the frequency of attacks despite the decrease in the number of missile strikes.
This was said by Vadym Skibitskyi, a representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, in an interview with RBK-Ukraine.
“The strikes will continue despite the fact that [russians] have begun to economize missile weapons. The autumn-winter campaign, when they employed 80-100 missiles in one strike, exhausted the arsenals and stocks of the russian federation," Vadym Skibitskyi noted, having reminded that a primary purpose of russian missile terror is to disrupt active actions of the Ukrainian army on the front.
The DIU representative has confirmed that russia has increased the production of Kalibr and Kh-101 cruise missiles several times: from 10 to 30-40 missiles per month. However, due to the depletion of missile reserves during the previous wave of missile terror against Ukraine, the russians are sending new products to the war practically from the assembly line.
“Currently, we record that the produced missiles enter the troops at once for further employment: for example, the cruise missiles from among the last strikes – we see their remnants – were produced in April of this year,” Vadym Skibitskyi told.
He also told about the results of studies of the downed russian missiles for presence of foreign components.
The largest number of foreign components, on which russia critically depends, is in Iskander and Kindzhal: about fifty components of the electronic base, which are inside of these missiles, are of foreign production,” the representative of Ukraine’s military intelligence said.
According to Vadym Skibitskii, Ukraine is currently actively working with partners to limit the supply of these components to the russian federation, to increase sanctions pressure on the aggressor state, and also to strengthen the Ukrainian air defence system, which is one of the key priorities of our state.
