According to Ukrainian intelligence data, generals and officers of the Russian Federation Armed Forces receive state awards and career advancement in the Russian army after hostilities in the territory of Ukraine. Vadym Skibitskyi, representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, stated this on the air of "Donbas. Realities" programme.

"Speaking of generals, General Serhii Kuzovliev, who had formed the 2nd Army Corps, became Commander of the 20th Army and then the 8th Army after he returned to Russia from the hostilities in Ukraine. Later, he was appointed as Deputy Commander of the Southern Military District of the RF Armed Forces. Today, the staff of Corps headquarters, brigade and regiment commands are acting officers of the Russian Armed Forces. In October-November this year, the top commanding officers of the 2nd Army Corps were rotated. Now there is a new corps commander, who also arrived from Russia. The commanders of separate brigades were changed. And this process is ongoing," the representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine said.

According to the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, the 1st and the 2nd Army Corps of the Russian occupation forces were formed on the basis of battalion tactical groups of the Russian Federation Armed Forces, which entered the territory of Ukraine in August and September 2014. The role and place of these Corps are clearly defined in the plans for the employment of the Russian Armed Forces against Ukraine, they are envisaged to conduct both defensive and offensive operations.
