To deter russia’s armed aggression, Ukraine is now almost solely reliant on weapons from the west. This was said by Vadym Skibitskyi, a representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine in interview with correspondent to British online edition The Guardian.
“This is an artillery war now. Ukraine has one artillery piece to 10 to 15 russian artillery pieces. That’s why, everything now depends on what weapons our western partners gives us,” the DIU representative noted.
Vadym Skibitskyi emphasized the need for the West to supply Ukraine with long-range rocket systems to successfully counter the russian artillery.
The representative of Ukraine's military intelligence also said that there will be a shortage of high-precision cruise missiles used by the occupying country to shell Ukraine.
“We have noticed that russia is carrying out far fewer rocket attacks and it has used H-22 rockets; they are old 1970s Soviet rockets. This shows that russia running low on precision rockets,” Vadym Skibitskyi said.
However, russia's economic resources will allow the occupying country to continue the war at its current pace for another year.
“Kremlin leadership may try to freeze the war for a period of time in order to convince the West to lift sanctions but then they will start its aggression again. Their aim is the whole of Ukraine and more,” Vadym Skibitskyi, the DIU representative, said.
