The operation to liberate Zmiinyi Island from the russian occupiers lasted about two months. The special units of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alfa group of the Security Service of Ukraine, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, with support of Ukraine’s artillery, the Navy of Ukraine and the Air Forces of Ukraine took part in the operation. During the operation, Ukrainian warriors, showing courage and heroism, forced the enemy to leave the occupied Ukrainian island.

Today, the final stage of the operation has been held, during which the special units of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine and the Special Operations Forces of Ukraine under the command of Major General Andrii Kovalchuk completed the task of clearing Zmiinyi Island. The destruction of about 30 units of enemy equipment was confirmed and ammunition abandoned by the enemy was discovered.

As a symbol of Victory, the Ukrainian servicemen installed the Flag of Ukraine, which had been delivered to the island earlier.
