A scout, who neutralized militants’ gun at the cost of his life, was buried in Khmelnytsk region

27-year-old Special Forces group leader Roman Matviyets was directed to forest belt, where from the militants launched fire on Ukrainian warriors. His comrades suppose that Sergeant-Major fought hand to hand with two occupants. Gun fell silent, but Roman died from received wounds there. This happened last week-end, near Novozvanivka. Due to his deed, the lives of his group’s scouts were rescued.

The whole Khoroshiv village came to give the last honours to Roman Matviyets. Half a hundred of hero’s sworn brothers came. Roman Matviyets fought in the east of Ukraine within the 8th separate Special Forces regiment over two years. For heroic deed, the military unit’s command has presented Roman for the title of Hero of Ukraine. His sworn brothers proposed to present Sergeant-Major Matviyets for awarding with the order of “People’s Hero”.
